Marc graduated from University of Dayton in 1999 with a bachelors’ degree in business administration and then received his law degree from the University of Dayton in 2003. He worked for a local law firm and was also a coach for Chaminade Julienne girls’ basketball team. So what’s the problem with Marc?
In May of 2009 Marc was arrested on “12 counts of violating obscenity laws by transferring obscene images to minors” or to who he thought were minors. I wonder if Marc was surprised when FBI agents arrested him at his office. Did he not realize this was against the law? What would ever possess a person to send sexually explicit pictures or video of themselves to anyone they did not know. Let alone knowingly sending the material to minors.
Let’s fast forward to 2010: Marc pled guilty to “one count of having computer equipment that contained visual depictions involving the use of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct. He also pled guilty to one count of knowingly using the internet to attempt to transfer obscene matter to a person under the age of 16.” I think he did the right thing by pleading guilty at least he saved the taxpayers the expense of a trial. I wonder if he had an attorney who advised him to plead guilty or if he came up with that on his own.
On November 5, 2010 Marc was sentenced to two years in prison. That’s right only two years! Both side agreed that two years would be sufficient. Why is that sufficient? Is it because no minors actually saw the material that was sent? Could it be sufficient because he had not been involved in anything like this before? Could it be sufficient because he was an attorney? After his prison time Marc will be required to register as a sex offender.
Um...this is disturbing. An attorney who is supposed to protect our community is exploiting it instead...and the ones needing protecting the most. It is disturbing that this man obviously felt that he was higher up in the law that he would never be caught.
ReplyDeleteI just wonder if he ever had one of those little angels sitting on his shoulder telling him this is wrong. He had to know that this was not proper for him to have on his computer. Some people just have no respect for anyone...
ReplyDeleteWow! I read about this earlier on daytondailynews.com but I didn't realize he was an attorney! Just graduated. All that work down the drain. Very sad. Interesting post!
